Fourth of July | Arts Festival |Holiday Kickoff | Christmas Program | Island-wide Garage Sale | Community Potlucks

Description:

We try to do as little as possible on the island, but there are some events worth noting:

Fourth of July Celebration - A summer community celebration (think makeshift floats, humorous & clever floats or groups, old cars, firetrucks tossing candy, flags, families & kids on trikes, bikes, skateboards, strollers & other vehicles). Always at 1 p.m., always on July 4, always fun to see the neighbors, and their guests.

Fine Arts Festival - Read about the summer arts festival on the arts festival Page.

Holiday Kickoff - This pre-holiday event in early December includes tables for island artists, hot cider and coffee, tables to learn wreath or swag-making and take one home with you, and sales of Samish Island labeled items (tide calendars, cups, hats, license plate holders, dishtowels, etc) to benefit the Community Center and your giftees. Join us and enjoy welcoming the holiday season.

Island Christmas - A holiday celebration of the season, with island entertainers and children, usually held in mid-December at the Community of Christ Church on Scott Rd. Carols usually begin at 6:30, with the Samish Island band. Organizer: Kitty Bluhm

Island-Wide Garage Sale - SICC organizes the island-wide garage sale day in June, with a small fee for advertising your part of the garage sale: balloons, signs, maps and other useful items are provided for those who'd like to be part of the island sale on that day. Check the Samish Shore Lines for the date. Some visitors have enthusiastically claimed: "its the best garage sale in the county!" We, of course, agree.

Island Potluck Dinners - Community potlucks are held three times yearly at the Community Center, usually on a Sunday evening in September, January and May. We each bring a dish to share, chat with neighbors and sometimes an announcement or two from islanders who are in the know about upcoming events. Check the Samish Shore Lines for dates.
