Summer Residents: Welcome Back! Consider contributing to the Community Center annual dues $10, which brings you the newsletter, helps support the Community Center, and promotes community events. Send dues to the Samish Island Community Center Treasurer at the SICC P.O. Box with your directory card filled out.

Don’t forget tide calendars and community phone directories are available at Blau’s, most of the summer.

Summer fun with an overflow group? You can arrange to rent the Community Center. Check the SICC web site for the hall schedule, then call Eileen Andersen at 766-8202 (leave msg) or email info@samishisland.net

Berry Dairy Days (Burlington) - Samish Island band marches in the parade.

June 16 Museum of Northwest Art, La Conner - Art Auction 2012 - this is the major fundraiser of the year. Attend or contribute, and help our local art museum in 2012.

Annual Samish Island-Wide Yard Sale Day is this Saturday. Plan your garage sale for this day. Time is 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. All islanders are invited to join in for the $10 fee for collective advertising, balloon, markers, etc. Clean out your closets, sort through your sheds. Sell off that stuff!

June 24 Gardens of Note Tour, Skagit Symphony Fund Raiser, 10am-5pm. 2012 gardens are all in Anacortes this year.

Skagit Burn Ban status is on the Skagit Fire Marshall's Outdoor Burning Page. Burn bans usually go into effect around July 15, but keep checking for exact date.

July 1 Inspect boats, engines, gear, etc. for crabbing, fishing and boating season. Be safe, be environmentally friendly.
July 3 Samish Island Marching Band meets at 7 pm at the Community Center for second practice for the parade tomorrow.
July 4 Fourth of July Parade & events, sponsored by the SICC begins around 1:00 p.m. Floats and participants begin forming at noon at Fish Point. Participate with kindness & humor for your neighbors' enjoyment. The Samish Island Marching Band starts the parade at 1:00 p.m. sharp! Notecards, hats, visors, Samish Island Book, will be for sale at the Community Center.

Nov 7- 28 Order holiday wreaths and swags from the island garden club, and help support the our Fire Hall, Camp Kirby, and Friendship House. You can order one for your mailbox, one for your front entrance, or perhaps some for gifts to others. $20 wreaths, $10 swags. Call Jacquie, Sandy or Gail to order (766-6501)(766-6543)(766-6823). Pick up your wreaths and pick up before 6pm on Friday, Nov 30.

Bring your gloves, pruners and fresh greens to the Community Center to make wreaths for island residents. We work Wed, Thursday and Friday on the wreaths and swags, then distribute them beginning Thursday to people who have ordered them. It is great fun, good spirits, and helpful to others. We invite all islanders to get in the spirit of the holidays with us!

Dec 1,8,15 Men and women are invited to join the Samish Island Holiday Choir organized by Lois Yale and accompanied by Ginny Ramey. The Christmas program is Saturday, December 15, so we will rehearse two times: 10:00 a.m. on Saturdays, December 1 and 8. The final rehearsal is the day of the program at 5:00 PM at the Community of Christ Church. For more information, contact Lois Yale, lobo@fidalgo.net or 766-8713.
Dec 15 The Samish Island Christmas Program and Holiday Party, is at 7 p.m. at the Community of Christ Church. The Samish Island Holiday Choir will hold their final rehearsal will be at 5:00 pm at the Community of Christ Church. Samish Island Band meets at 5:30 for final program rehearsal. The "Samish Island Sitting Band" begins playing at 6:30 p.m.

Kitty Bluhm needs people for the Christmas program. If you sing, tell stories, have a poem to read, a skit to offer, or just like to help out somehow, contact Kitty at 766-4236.

Bring a plate of goodies to share if you can, and stay to share Christmas greetings with neighbors. See Christmas Program web page.

Dec 31 Annual membership dues may be paid anytime, but if you would like to be in the island directory, please pay by January 31. SICC Board recommends $10 to help pay for the Shore Lines and hall needs. You may also donate for special projects during the year, if desired. Coming soon: a better sound system.
Nov to Feb. If winter storms leave you without power, heat, or ways to cook, come to the Community Center - the oven, cooktop and heat are propane, and North Beach sometimes has power & lights when other part of the island do not. Bring games, food to cook, and enjoy the time with others in the same situation. Contact the Community Club president for the key or more information.
